68 Rue de Bellechasse

Paris, 7th Arrondisement

In the 1870s, this was the townhouse of Léon-Édouard Amelot de Chaillou (b.1832), le Vicomte de Chaillou and Secretary to the Belgian Ambassador whose ancestor built the Hotel de Amelot Chaillou (Hotel Tallard) on the Rue des Archives. In 1916, after his very public divorce in London, the American Anthony Joseph Drexel Jr. lived here until his death in 1934. Since then it has been connected to the Ministry of French Agriculture.
