Dudley S. Gregory House

96 Sussex Street, Jersey City, New Jersey

Built circa 1840, for Dudley Sanford Gregory (1800-1874) and his wife, Ann Maria Lyon (1805-1871). Situated on the northwest corner of Sussex and Washington Streets, it was built for the first Mayor of Jersey City, and its wealthiest citizen. After his death in 1874, the mansion became Jersey City's main post office. It was later demolished and today the Cornelia F. Bradford Elementary School stands in its place.
