Capt. Charles Herbert Wombwell (1877-1941)

He was born at Eastbourne in East Sussex, the son of Frederick C. Wombwell and Carolina Sophia Jones, of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil "a member of a widely known banking family". He was a former Captain in the 17th Lancers (seeing action in the Boer War) and the South African Horse Guards. He died at "Mill Cove" on Long Island, New York, in the home of his wife's daughter and son-in-law. He was survived by his American widow and his brother, Frederick S. Wombwell, of 103 East 75th St., New York.
