Charles Henry Wilson (1833-1907)

M.P., 1st Baron Nunburnholme; Chairman of the Wilson Shipping Line

He was created 1st Baron Nunburnholme in 1906. In 1878, he bought Warter Priory in Pocklington, Yorkshire, from the Pennington family which was a symbolic purchase as it was the same estate upon which his Wilson ancestors had been tenants since at least the 17th century: his grandfather, David Wilson, was born on the Warter estate in 1746 before moving to find employment in Hull. Charles married Florence Wellesley, a grandniece of the 1st Duke of Wellington, and had 7-children.
