Christopher Robinson (1645-1693)

He was the elder brother of John Robinson, Lord Bishop of London, and came to Virginia in 1666 as private secretary to Sir William Berkeley, Governor of Virginia. He was a Member of the Virginia House of Burgesses and sat on the Governor's Council. The present day Hewick Plantation was built by his grandson Christoper Robinson III circa 1740, replacing the house he built there in 1678. On his death, he left a personal estate valued at £1,558. His youngest son is the grandfather of Sir Frederick Philipse Robinson, Lieutenant-Governor of Upper Canada and Tobago.
