Hamilton Carhartt, Founder of Carhartts, Clothing Manufacturers
He grew up in Jackson, Michigan. Later, he lived at 927 Fifth Avenue at the corner of 74th Street in New York City. He summered in Newport, Rhode Island, and had a country home at Carhartt, South Carolina.
