Henry Leyden Stevens (1859-1885)

He was described as a "sports enthusiast" and was engaged in 1882 to the celebrated future author, Edith Wharton. But, the engagement was broken off soon afterwards owing to what was then described in Town & Topics as, "an alleged preponderance of intellectuality on the part of the intended bride"! Harry died unmarried just three years later.
