Hickson Woolman Field, Jr. (1823-1898)

of Washington Heights, New York & the Palazzo Ruspoli, Rome

He was born in Rome and built an elegant mansion for his wife next to her childhood home, Pinehurst. Later they returned to Rome where they lived at the Palazzo Ruspoli (see images). They had two daughters, but only one survived to adulthood becoming Princess Brancaccio, "Dame d'Honneur" to Queen Marguerite.
