John Alastair Livingston Timpson (1915-1997)
Major John A.L. Timpson, M.C., of Taunton, Somerset
He grew up at Maizefield in Dutchess County, New York, and Appleton Manor in Oxfordshire. During World War Two, he was commissioned into the Scots Guards and served with Special Forces in North Africa, receiving the Military Cross. He married Elizabeth Houstoun-Boswall, a great-granddaughter of Sir Hugh Allan of Montreal.
