Boylston Villa

Princeton

He was born in London and was named for the merchant banker John Lane (son of Sir Thomas Lane, Mayor of London) who'd been in business with his father's uncle, Tom Boylston. In Princeton, he owned and lived at 20 Worcester Road (aka the since demolished William Ball House) but the Boylston Villa was inherited by his eldest son. In 1838, he presented the First Church at Princeton with the elegant crystal and brass chandelier which still hangs in the current sanctuary. He married Sally Brooks in 1813 and they were the parents of five children, one of whom died in childhood.
