John Shuter Davenport McGill (b.c.1839)

Captain John Shuter Davenport McGill, of the 60th King's Royal Rifle Corps

He was born at Montreal. He was educated at Guildford Grammar School, Surrey, and Trinity College, Cambridge. He was commissioned into the 60th Royal Rifle Corps and served during the Indian Mutiny in 1857, taking part in the Siege and capture of Delhi. In 1859, he married Rosina Bisgood, daughter of a London solicitor. He resigned his commission and they lived at 46 Park Street, Regent's Park, London.
