Maude (Lorillard) Baring (1876-1922)

She was born in New York City. In 1893, she married T. Suffern Tailer and they had one son together, Lorillard Suffern Tailer. She obtained a divorce from him in 1902 and five months later married his ex-business partner, Cecil Baring, 3rd Baron Revelstoke. Despite her efforts, she was never able to gain custody of her eldest son. She had three further children with Baring, notably Daphne, who - encouraged by her uncle Maurice Baring - became a bonafide artist, illustrator and writer.
