Otto George Theobald Kiliani (1863-1929)

He was born at Munich in Bavaria, the son of a Supreme Court Judge. He was educated at the Gymnasium of Augsburg, the University of Munich (1886) and graduated as a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Leipzig in 1888. He served as a Surgeon with the 3rd Royal Bavarian Artillery Regiment at Munich, 1890. He came to the United States in 1891 and started a practice at New York. He was Surgeon to the German Consulate-General at New York from 1900. He was appointed Professor of Clinical Surgery at Columbia University and was decorated as a Knight, Order of the Crown (Prussian) and a Knight, Order of Saint Michael (Bavarian). He married Lillie, the only daughter of the celebrated writer and poet Bayard Taylor, and had at least one son.
