Philip Mesier Lydig (1794-1872)

He was the only son of his father and in 1824 entered into partnership with his father in the flour dealing business of Lydig & Son. For nearly a half century he was connected with almost every bank and insurance company in the city, and he was recognized as one of the most prominent businessmen of his time. By the time he had retired in 1846 his personal fortune was estimated at $350,000. He had 7-children.
