Samuel Gouverneur Ogden (1779-1860)

Samuel G. Ogden, Shipping Merchant, of New York City

He lived at 9 Hudson Street, New York City, until the conclusion of the Napoleonic Wars in 1815 when he went to France and established himself in commercial business at Bordeaux. In 1825, he returned to New York and became the agent for several large mercantile houses in France. He then lived at 41 Warren Street, "where he entertained in magnificent style". He also kept a country home at Astoria, L.I.
