Thomas Amory, Merchant, of Boston, Massachusetts
He was born at Boston and was educated at the Boston Latin School and Harvard University (1741). He became a merchant and operated a distillery that was originally purchased by his maternal grandfather. He and notably his wife's family, the Coffins, were Loyalists and during the Revolution the Amorys briefly removed to Quebec before returning to Boston where he was in business with his brothers up until his death. In 1764, he married his cousin, Elizabeth Coffin, and they had 9-children.
