Thomas Gibson Crawford (1814-1857)
Thomas Gibson Crawford, Sculptor, of New York
He was one of America's best regarded sculptors in his time, perhaps best known for the the 20-foot bronze "Statue of Freedom" that crowns the U.S. Capital. He is also remembered for the Washington Monument in Richmond, Virginia.
