William Neilson (1737-1820)

Shipping Merchant, of William Neilson & Son, of New York City

He was a nephew of Dr. John Neilson and a first cousin of Revolutionary General John Neilson, heir to their uncle James Neilson. According to the Slave Voyages database, between 1784 and 1808, William Neilson and his associates chartered at least 46 voyages carrying in total thousands of captives from Africa to destinations in the Caribbean.
