William Ramsay, of Bowland, Stow, Selkirkshire

He became the largest shareholder of the Imperial Bank and vice-President of the Toronto, Grey & Bruce Railway. In 1882, he retired to his native Scotland where he bought the Bowland estate, though he frequently returned to Toronto to maintain his business interests there.
