Winthrop Astor Chanler (1863-1926)
"Wintie" Winthrop Astor Chanler, of New York & Newport, R.I.
He was educated at Eton in England and Harvard in America. He was wounded while taking part in a gun-running expedition to Cuba during the Spanish-American War and was later appointed a Colonel in the Cuban army in recognition of his bravery. He was an avid hunter in Europe.
