Elizabeth (Fitch) Rogers (1723-1812)

She was a niece of Thomas Fitch, Governor of Connecticut. In about 1760, she was described as: "A descendant Sir Thomas Fitch, she inherited the energy and magnamity as well as the blood and honor of the English nobility". It was her habit to leave with those who had entertained her some sort of souvenir of her visit. For many years, her portrait hung in the home of her daughter and son-in-law's house, the David Lambert House in Wilton, Connecticut. After her husband's death, she moved from Norwalk to Chestnut Hill, a mile or so to the east of the Lamberts.
