Harriet Pierson Cook (1835-1924)

She was the daughter of John and Hannah (Sanford) Cook. In 1836, when she was just one year old, her mother died and she was adopted by her mother's sister, Mrs Nancy (Sanford) Holbrook. She grew up as the daughter of the Holbrooks between New York City and Bellefield in Dutchess County, N.Y. In 1856, she married Fitz-John Porter. They were the parents of two sons and two daughters.
