Henry Frederick Phinney (1816-1875)
Henry F. Phinney, of Cooperstown, New York
He is recorded in the annals of Cooperstown as perhaps dong, "more than any other man of his means of that period to build up and improve the village, spending a large amount in opening new avenues and erecting a number of residences. He at one time owned and at a large cost improved the Cooper House Hotel (his wife's childhood home, Otsego Hall), and was one of the first and most liberal supporters of the Thanksgiving Hospital. He and his wife died without children.
