Henry Middleton (1717-1784)

Seven of his twelve children survived childhood (listed above), all borne by his first wife, Mary Baker Williams through whom he acquired Middleton Place. He was one of the wealthiest landowners in America, at one time owning 20 plantations of some 50,000-acres and 800 slaves who worked them.
