John Caldwell Calhoun (1782-1850)

He was the U.S. Congressman from South Carolina (1811-17); U.S. Secretary of War (1817-25); U.S. Vice-President under John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson (1825-32); U.S. Secretary of State (1844-45); and, U.S. Senator from South Carolina (1845-1850). In 1811, he married his first cousin once removed, Floride Bonneau Colhoun, and they had ten children of whom seven (listed) survived to adulthood.
