Leonard Vassall (1678-1737)
Major Leonard Vassall, of Boston & Braintree (Quincy), Massachusetts
Major Vassall was the wealthy owner of a sugar plantation in Jamaica. He came to Boston in 1723 and seven years later purchased his first plot of land at Braintree (modern day Quincy), on which in 1731 he built Peacefield, now most famously associated with the Adams family.
