Samuel Pepys Cockerell (1753-1827)

Samuel Pepys Cockerell, "Oriental" Architect of London

He was famous for "orientalizing" Sezincote House in Gloucestershire which inspired Brighton Pavilion. Among his students was Benjamin Latrobe (1764-1820) who emigrated to Washington D.C. where among many important projects he built the Van Ness House, inspired by Cockerell's Middleton House.
