Thomas Powell (1768-1856)

Thomas Powell, of Newburgh, New York

Orphaned by 12, he became one of the wealthiest citizens of Newburgh, New York, with a successful freight-forwarding business and large stock interests in railroads, banks, factories, steamships etc. He married Mary Ludlow. He was the uncle of the millionaire brothers Henry and Daniel Parish of New York.
