Maison d'Argenson

Palais Royal, Paris

Built circa 1650, this was the townhouse of the aristocratic d'Argenson family. The street facade of this house (displayed in the picture) was skilfully copied by Horace Trumbauer to be the street facade of The Elms in Newport, while the garden facade of the American house was a copy of the d'Argenson family's country estate, the Chateau d'Asnières
