Adelaide Torrance (1846-1932)
Mrs Adelaide (Torrance) Howland, of Cannes, France; died without children
She was a first cousin of William Kissam Vanderbilt and his daughter, Consuelo (afterwards the Duchess of Marlborough) came to stay with her in Paris. After her husband died in 1912, she moved to an apartment, 24 Rue de Berri, in Paris, but continued to come down to their home in Cannes, Villa Dubosc, where she was known as a society hostess and "an indefatigable bridge-player". She died without children.
