William Starr Miller (1856-1935)

He was named for his uncle, Congressman William Starr Miller, and was educated at both Harvard and Columbia University (LL.M.). He was ostensibly a lawyer with offices on Broadway, but he was also a successful investor and real estate developer both in Manhattan and Rhinebeck. His brother, Dr George Norton Miller, inherited The Grove and he employed his wife's celebrated brother, Whitney Warren, to build them both a country house at Rhinebeck, Rockledge, as well as a cottage in Newport, High Tide. Miller was a member of the Knickerbocker Club and the Union Club at New York. He was survived by one daughter, Edith, Lady Queenborough.
