Built 1835, for General Andrew Jackson (1767-1845), "Old Hickory" 7th President of the United States, and his wife Rachel Donelson (1767-1828). The Hermitage receives over 250,000 visitors a year, making it the fourth most visited President's House after Mount Vernon, Monticello and the White House
