Laura (Swan) Robeson (1881-1973)

Mrs. Laura Patterson (Swan) Robeson

She was the stepdaughter of Elisha Dyer IV of Wayside, a member of Mrs Astor's "Four Hundred". She was given her middle name by virtue of her descent from William Patterson, 1st President of the Bank of Maryland and founder of the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad. Her great-grandfather's sister, Betsey Patterson, married Jerome-Napoleon Bonaparte, youngest brother of the Emperor Napoleon. Laura's husband's grandfather built Elm Court in Newport and they had one daughter.
