Charles Alexander Tomes (1854-1933)

Having worked for Russell & Co., he took over the firm when it went bankrupt after which it became known as Shewan, Tomes & Co. He lived between "Gough Hill" on Victoria Peak in Hong Kong and 993 Park Avenue in New York City. He married Harriot, daughter of Alfred Hancock and they had five children including Joan who married the son of the British Prime Minister, Stanley Baldwin.
