The information contained within the newsletters may include but is not limited to: HouseHistree company news, house profiles, people profiles, special offers relating to featured properties, property services and event notifications, interviews with property custodians or those who have a connection to a featured property and a story to tell.
You can opt out of our marketing at any time by logging into www.househistree.com and unchecking the types of marketing activities you no longer wish to participate in. Additionally, you can unsubscribe from any newsletter or mailing by clicking the unsubscribe button in the email footer.
Should you encounter any issues opting out, please email us email@example.com at any time. We endeavour to respond to your email within three working days.
With the exception of houses to whom you are connected to, no data will be shared with third parties for marketing purposes. For more information on how we may share your data with Houses to whom you are connected, please see section 5, ‘Who we will share your data with’.
Change of purpose
We will only use your personal data for the purposes for which we collected it, unless we reasonably consider that we need to use it for another reason and that reason is compatible with the original purpose. If you wish to get an explanation as to how the processing for the new purpose is compatible with the original purpose, please contact us through the contact details provided on the contact us page of our website.
If we need to use your personal data for an unrelated purpose, we will notify you and we will explain the legal basis which allows us to do so.

Historical Houses – ‘House Alumni’
As part of our website you are able to connect your registered account to historic houses listed on our site. As part of this connection you are becoming, what we term, an ‘alumnus’ of that specific house and you are agreeing for your personal data to be shared with that house if that chooses to access its “alumnus”. We will share your data only with the houses you are connected to. The purpose of sharing this data is so that the connected house can review and contact its list of ‘alumni’ to provide specific content and promotions. The data shared with a house is listed in section 4 of this policy.
If you wish to stop receiving content, promotions or marketing from the houses you are connected to you will need to contact their custodians directly and ask to be removed from their mailing lists.
Algolia are a search functionality provider used by our website but no personal data is provided to Algolia for them to perform their service.
6. DATA SECURITY
We have put in place appropriate security measures to prevent your personal data from being accidentally lost, used or accessed in an unauthorised way, altered or disclosed. In addition, we limit access to your personal data to those employees, agents, contractors and other third parties who have a business need to know. They will only process your personal data on our instructions and they are subject to a duty of confidentiality.
We have put in place procedures to deal with any suspected personal data breach and will notify you and any applicable regulator of a breach where we are legally required to do so.
7 .DATA RETENTION
We will keep all data relating to you whilst you have an active registered account on our website. You can choose to delete you account by logging into www.househistree.com or by contacting us using the contact details noted in section 8 (Your Legal Rights) of this policy.
If you delete your account, your data will be permanently erased. Ownership of Houses and People associated with your account will be transferred to the HouseHistree team.
If your email address was shared with the custodians of houses you were connected to before you delete your account, it cannot be recalled. If you receive emails from your former house connections, you will need to contact their custodians directly and ask to be removed from their mailing lists.
In some circumstances we may anonymise your personal data (so that it can no longer be associated with you) for research or statistical purposes in which case we may use this information indefinitely without further notice to you.

8. YOUR LEGAL RIGHTS
Unless subject to an exemption under the data protection laws, you have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- The right to request a copy of the personal data which we hold about you;
- The right to request that we correct any personal data if it is found to be inaccurate or out of date;
- The right to request your personal data is erased where it is no longer necessary to retain such data;
- The right to withdraw your consent to the processing at any time, where consent was the lawful basis for processing your data;

No fee required – with some exceptions
