Charles Hunter (1813-1873)

Captain Charles Hunter, U.S. Navy, of Newport, Rhode Island

He was the son of John Hunter, Minister to Brazil, and the brother of William Hunter, Assistant Secretary of State. He, his wife and daughter Caroline (Mary and Anna survived) were among the 226 people who were killed when the paddle steamer S.S. Ville du Havre sank.
