James Gore King Duer (1841-1907)

He was born at "Hauxhurst" in Weehawkin, New Jersey. He joined his family's bank, Prime, Ward & King, which was then the oldest banking house on Wall Street founded by his great-grandfather, Rufus King. It became known as James G. King & Sons but was ruined by the Baring Bank Crisis in 1890 and was dissolved in 1897. Having already moved to his father's old home, Hauxhurst, in New Jersey, he entered the insurance business in which he remained until his death. He was a member  of the Union Club, President of the Westchester Kennel Club, and in 1889 was named as one of the 52 "Patriarchs" of New York. He married Elizabeth Meads and had 3-children (listed).
