Melissa Clementine Johnston (1831-1908)

She was born at Roane County, Tennessee, and through her connections her husband was introduced into old New York society. They became known as "the marrying Wilsons" as each of their five children married extremely well: (1) Mrs May Goelet (2) Marshall Wilson, married Caroline Schermerhorn Astor (3) Lady Leila Herbert (4) R.T.
