Rev. Calvin White (1763-1853)

Rector of St. James', Derby, New Haven Co., Connecticut; Roman Catholic Convert

He was a descendant of John White who came to Massachusetts in 1632 and his son, Nathaniel, who settled at Middletown, Connecticut. He graduated from Yale University (1786) and for many years was Rector of St. James' Parish in Derby, Connecticut. He converted to Roman Catholicism circa 1820 and fathered 21-children. He is the great-grandfather of the famous Gilded Age architect Stanford White, of New York.
