Richard Kemble (1733-1813)

Richard Kemble, of "Mount Kemble" Burlington, New Jersey

He inherited his father's home, "Mount Kemble" near Morristown but died unmarried. In public he adopted the Patriot cause, allowing his father to transfer all the family property to him thus saving it from confiscation. Because of that, it is assumed that he was in private a Loyalist to the Crown like the rest of his family. He died unmarried at Mount Kemble which then passed to his brother, Stephen, a retired Colonel in the British Army, who died there in 1822.
