William Hallowell (1771-1838)

Fur-Trader & Partner in the North West Company, Montreal

He came to North America from Bedford in England. In 1798, at Albany, New York, he married Martha, daughter of Alexander Henry from whom he purchased his partnership into the North West Company (fur-traders) that same year. In the War of 1812, he served as a Brevet-Captain with the Montreal Militia.
