Hatfield House

Hatfield, Hertfordshire

Built 1611, for Robert Cecil (1563-1612), 1st Earl of Salisbury - the controversial figure who was said to have foiled the gunpowder plot. Hatfield House is considered one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture. Some of the staircases were used as inspiration for the Tudor-style staircase at Ronaele Manor.
