Arthur Randolph Wormeley Curtis (1889-1966)

He was born in Fakenham, Norfolk, and educated at Eton and Trinity College, Cambridge. He joined the merchant banking firm of Brown, Shipley & Co., of which his grandfather and his great-grandfather had been partners back in Boston. On the outbreak of war, he was commissioned into the 11th Hussars and was severely wounded in France. He was afterwards attached to the Royal Flying Corps. After the war, he was Private Secretary to Earl Jellicoe while Governor-General of New Zealand (1920-1924); and, Military Secretary to Lord Stonehaven while Governor-General of Australia (1925-1928). He was Deputy Lieutenant of Lincolnshire and county Scout Commissioner. He lived at The Priory, Knipton, near Grantham in Lincolnshire and belonged to the Cavalry, M.C.C., and Royal & Ancient, St. Andrews. He was unmarried.
