Daniel Cock Robbins (1816-1888)

He grew up in Poughkeepsie, New York, and was said to have walked the 80-miles to Manhattan to answer an advert for "help-wanted" with a young firm of drug importers. Having started out as an apprentice, twenty years later (1853) he was made a partner in what then became McKesson & Robbins and is now known as McKesson Corps - ranked 8th on the 2020 Fortune 500 with a revenue of $214 billion.
