Henry Bromfield (1727-1820)

Col. Henry Bromfield, J.P., of Boston & Harvard, Massachusetts

He was born at Boston and became a merchant in partnership with his first father-in-law, John Fayerweather, between Boston and London. By 1765, he left behind the “political dissentions” in Boston and bought a mansion in rural Harvard where he lived for the rest of his life. On the outbreak of Revolution, he was commissioned as Colonel of the Boston Regiment but asked to be discharged in 1777. He married twice and had five children, four by his first marriage and one by his second.
