Rachel Wilson (1797-1870)

Mrs Rachel (Wilson) Wilson

She was the wife of a poor Scottish shoemaker and tanner of Habersham County, Georgia. Their son became a multi-millionaire and their grandchildren were remarkable for marrying into the most prominent New York families, eg. Astor, Vanderbilt and Goelet. She is also the great-grandmother of the 9th Duke of Roxburghe.
