He was named for his wealthy uncle, Jacob Hans Busk (1718-1792). In 1819, he purchased Ponsbourne Park from his brother, William Busk (1769-1849) M.P., who had purchased the estate eight years earlier. Jacob and Martha (Dawson) Busk had at least one son.
