Mrs "Clara" (Hall) Jerome, of New York

Jerome Mansion

Manhattan

She was sociably ambitious and determined that her daughters should marry well. She was slightly embarrassed that they has been born in Brooklyn and moved them to France in the hope of landing each a French aristocratic husband. But, the Franco-Prussian War of 1870 had left France in tatters and she somewhat reluctantly instead took her daughters to England. Jennie famously landed a lord from one of England's grandest families which left Mrs Jerome less than impressed by Leonie's choice of a mere Irish Baronet...! Clara married an English squire whose only skill in life was squandering every dime that came near him! Aside from this, all Mrs Jerome's girls are remembered for their absolute loyalty and support of one another and their husbands.
